A spaceship quilt

September 18, 2015 by Sue Leave a Comment

With all the quilts I have in progress, it feels really good to have one finished! I got the binding sewed and the label on last night and the photo shoot done today on this bold and bright spaceship quilt. This was the first quilt kit I ever bought. I like to pick out fabric and match up different colors and patterns because that’s part of the fun for me, but when I saw this quilt with all the bright colors and the darling spaceships I fell in love and picked it up a couple years ago. I pieced it a little here and there and then decided to concentrate on finishing it up in the spring so I could work on the hand-quilting. It came out really cute and I love the striped binding they chose.2015-09-18 15.30.47The pattern is “Big & Little” by Bits ‘n Pieces Pattern Co. and the spaceships are Michael Miller Retro Space Station. The backing is “Here Fishy Fishy” by Heather Mulder Peterson of Anka’s Treasures for Henry Glass & Co. Since the quilt was a kit, I don’t know about the other fabrics. The quilt is 39″x47″.

The pattern yielded two extra blocks so I pieced them onto the back for a little variety.
