Here are some pictures of Brian attending this year’s Lone Peak High School Prom. He was on Student Council this year and they planned the prom which was at the Utah State Capitol. Since he was partly in charge, Sue and I had the opportunity to chaperone.
Mark Enters MTC
Mark entered the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Provo, Utah this last Wednesday. The night before, he was set apart to be a missionary by our Stake President, President Nilson. We took some pictures afterwards.
Here is Sue putting Mark’s nametag on at the MTC. I guess it is a tradition for the mom to put the nametag on.
We found out that he will be in the MTC learning Spanish for a couple of months. His tentative departure date is July 9.
Easy Dutch Oven Baked Beans
These are some of my favorite baked beans. They are easy to make, delicious in a Dutch oven over a fire or on a campstove. You can also do them at home on your stove.
1 lb. Bacon4 cans of pork and beans
1 Tbs. mustard
1/4 c. catsup
1 onion, chopped
1/2 c. brown sugar
3 Tbs. Worcestershire Sauce
Cut bacon into 2 inch pieces. Cook in Dutch oven, drain oil. Add all remaining ingredients and cook in coals until heated through, approximately 30 minutes.
Mark Receives His Mission Call
Mark got his mission call today to serve two years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Texas San Antonio Mission, Spanish Speaking. He'll enter the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah on May 7, 2007. Mark had four years of Spanish in High School, so he is excited that he will be able to use his Spanish. He also is glad he is going somewhere that is humid (he misses Florida!) and doesn't get very cold!
Let it Snow, Verse 2
The day after taking the pictures of all of our snow, we got dumped on again. Kind of a pattern this year. We got around 11-12" of new snow on Sunday (February 3). Enough that they canceled church and we spent most of the rest of the afternoon helping neighbors get shoveled out. Brian is standing behind that same pile of snow that I had the pictures from on Saturday, but it has now grown considerably.
Luckily we get a break for a day or two, before the next storm hits us on Wednesday.
