1. It’s great to see the sun, but I’m tired of the cold already and this high pressure is causing an inversion in Utah that makes the air quality bad.
2. I feel swamped by my full-time volunteer PTA job, but am trying to work methodically through my list of things to do.
3. I was able to spend Wednesday afternoon with a good friend who helped me see the “big picture” and adjust my attitude.
4. I laughed alot with 2 friends last night in “the meeting after the meeting” and solved the world’s problems.
5. I’m feeling grumpy about some additional assignments, but now that I write this, I see that hanging with friends doesn’t help me accomplish my “to-do” list, but makes me feel better about myself and more able to accomplish things when I get down to it.
6. I’m blessed to have a good husband and two good sons who help me be happy.

So life is a bit of a pain right now, but special people make it endurable and even happy.

Friday Fill-Ins

1. It’s January; my snow is piling up and my driveway is getting narrower.

2. A vacation in Hawaii is what I crave most right now.

3. Cork and wine go together like hot chocolate and whipped cream (sounds yummy).

4. Chocolate is so nourishing.

5. Let us dare to leave the house without slipping on ice; always an adventure for me.

6. When it’s cold outside, I love my home.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to being done with my interview on a radio show and hearing Brian and his friend sing the National Anthem at the Lone Peak basketball game, tomorrow my plans include shopping, laundry, PTA work on my computer, and attending the District Honor Choir concert and Sunday, I want to go to bed early and read!

One Little Word

I’m not really a New Year’s resolution kind of girl, but the new year is a good time for reflection on what’s coming up. Ali Edwards’ blog encourages readers to pick one word that sums up what you want for yourself in the new year. I have thought about it and added my comment to her post. The events of the past year have convinced me that this is what I need in my life. It will be difficult, but this is my goal.

My word for 2009 is SERENE.

I saw this mini-challenge today and I couldn’t resist joining because it will push me to read some of the 11 non-Anne books on my shelf that I’ve never read. I know I’ve racked up a large share of challenges already, but I’m starting to feel like my friend, alisonwonderland-there are so many interesting challenges, I just want to join them all! Even with the several I’ve joined, it’s not as many as the host of this challenge. She has a list of all her completed 2008 Challenges and there were 46! Anyway, the rules and my list:

By November 30th, 2009 (her would-be 135th birthday) read at least 4 books by Lucy Maud Montgomery that aren’t part of the Anne series.
