 Literary Loners Reading Challenge 2016

I was invited by the author of Whatever I Think Of! to join her new challenge and I am game! There are two options: characters or authors and I chose main or secondary characters identified as a loner, outcast, recluse, wallflower, or introvert. She did not prescribe levels so I just started being cognizant of identifying loners in my reading, and here’s what I found. [Read more…] about Literary Loners Reading Challenge 2016 wrap-up

Ode to the 1930’s Blocks #37-38

December 2, 2016 by Sue Leave a Comment

By mid-October we had left the 6 applique blocks that didn’t include any piecing and the 3 (3″) blocks that each include multiples of the same pattern. We decided to intersperse the applique and pieced blocks so that we didn’t go crazy with all the machine applique. We did #37 Mexican Rose and began by choosing fabrics, tracing, and cutting one week along with choosing and cutting fabrics for the 3″ triangles. [Read more…] about Ode to the 1930’s Blocks #37-38

This challenge is hosted by Once Upon a Bookcase. I had fun playing along with this challenge and chose the Medium: 5-8 retellings level and read 13 so I actually leveled up and made the Hard level. I didn’t get through all the retellings on my shelves so will have to read some more next year!

The Challenge:
Easy: 1-4 retellings
Medium: 5-8 retellings
Hard: 9-12 retellings

2016 Read It Again, Sam

This challenge is hosted by Bev at My Reader’s Block.
*Challenge runs from Jan 1 to Dec 31, 2016.
Levels:
Déjà vu: Reread 4 books
Feeling Nostalgic: Reread 8 books
A Trip Down Memory Lane: Reread 12 books
Living in the Past: Reread 16+ books

I did this challenge for the first time in 2015, signed up for 8 books, and finished when I hit 30 re-reads which is way past the top level. Most of my re-reads come from audio books I check out from the library and listen to as I do other things around the house. You can get through an audio book quite fast at that rate. So this year I signed up for Living in the Past 16+ books. I am now at 29 books so this challenge is DONE!
