Fall in Yellowstone-Day Two

October 18, 2014 by Sue Leave a Comment

In previous trips to Yellowstone we hadn’t driven Firehole Canyon Drive so we decided to do some exploring there, especially since there was a waterfall to see right off the road. I was still hobbled with walking so it took me time to get in and out of the car and walk to wherever we wanted to look. We stopped at Firehole Falls and Scott took quite a lot of shots, including the traditional “waterfall with Sue” photo. We have those everywhere. Yay! This was actually a very scenic falls with the large rock outcropping in the center that had water cascading over it.

Rockin’ at The Wall

October 11, 2014 by Sue Leave a Comment

Recently, we headed down to BYU’s The Wall to hear the boys make some music. It’s a fun place to hang out and I like the Italian sodas. My favorite is their Black Mamba. 🙂 And yes, those are both for me! Rock on!2014-09-26 20.25.34

Barn construction continues

October 10, 2014 by Sue Leave a Comment

We decided to look forward to fall and harvest time and do some blocks that fit the season. We loved the “Canning Season” block with its little canning jars full of yummy goodness. We are trying to use scraps for this quilt and except for the massive amounts of white and a few tiny purchases of very small quantities, we have been succeeding. Between the two of us we usually come up with what we need. Team ShaRee went with a traditional red gingham for the silo and a lovely dark blue print for the barn that really made the canning jars pop!

Read Scotland 2014 wrap-up

October 3, 2014 by Sue 1 Comment

Read and review Scottish books -any genre, any form- written by a Scottish author (by birth or immigration) or about or set in Scotland.

Challenge levels:
Just A Keek (a little look): 1-4 books read
The Highlander: 5-8 books
The Hebridean: 9-12 books
Ben Nevis: 13+ books

My goal was to complete The Highlander and I fulfilled it completely by reading 8 books. It was really fun to dip into Scotland and I like the 44 Scotland Street series so much that I plan to finish it. Here’s what I read:

1. The Minor Adjustment Beauty Salon (No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency #14), by Alexander McCall Smith
2. Belgrave Square (Thomas & Charlotte Pitt #12), by Anne Perry
3. Thistle And Thyme: Stories And Legends From Scotland, by Sorche Nic Leodhas
4. 44 Scotland Street, by Alexander McCall Smith
5. Espresso Tales (44 Scotland Street #2), by Alexander McCall Smith
(6.) Love Over Scotland (44 Scotland Street #3), by Alexander McCall Smith
(7.) The World According to Bertie (44 Scotland Street #4), by Alexander McCall Smith
(8.) The Unbearable Lightness of Scones (44 Scotland Street #5), by Alexander McCall Smith

Thanks to Peggy for hosting!
