Some good news from each of us

August 27, 2010 by Sue 1 Comment

Scott: switched our TV service from Comcast to Direct TV so that we have the correct stations to see ALL the BYU football games this year.

Sue: received “Mockingjay, book 3 of the Hunger Games” in the mail today and will be starting to read it tonight.

Mark: after spending all summer talking to various people at BYU, he just found out that he really had been accepted into the Music Dept. in February but some kind of mix-up sent him the denial letter instead of the acceptance letter; he has been stressed and praying and investigating other options since he got home from his mission in May but now he can do what he really wants to do with his life; not only is he now a music major but they’ve also approved the lateral move to a sound recording emphasis because he’s already taken some of those courses.

Brian: after spending almost 6 months in his first area of Escondido, he is being transferred (we won’t find out where until Tuesday); he is being made a senior companion AND a district leader with this transfer.

Tuacahn 2010

July 27, 2010 by Sue 1 Comment

We made our annual summer pilgrimage to Broadway in the Desert last weekend and had a great time!  The Tuacahn shows in St. George this year are “Cats” and the regional premiere of “Tarzan, the Musical”.  This was the first time we had seen “Cats” and the dancing was really amazing.  Some of the leads were fantastic.  “Tarzan” was awesome.  They had really stunning aerial work going on in almost every scene, the leads were great and it was really fun.  Great quick vacation.

Summer Hike #7

September 14, 2009 by Sue Leave a Comment

This was the last one of the season and I’m really behind on getting it posted because we went in the middle of August.  Scott and Brian went camping in the Uintas with the Scouts six years ago and Scott has always wanted to get me up there to see the area.  So we planned for a long hike and drove up above Kamas to the High Uinta Mountains.  It was very beautiful and we hiked up to the Notch and looked over into another large valley.  We hiked on trails, did some boulder-hopping, and went cross-country.  I twisted my ankle and the way down over the boulders was a little rough, but the boys were patient and helped me down.  There’s alot of area to explore up there, so we need some more trips up there next summer, sans twisted ankle!

Tuacahn 2009

August 27, 2009 by Sue Leave a Comment

This year’s trip to Tuacahn involved Scott, Sue, and Brian and we saw Disney’s “Aida” which was really wonderful.  They flooded the stage for the Nile scene and the costumes were really great.  There was lots of great singing and dancing, as always.  This was a quick trip, just down and back.  Alas, I forgot to take photos!
