I had some eye surgery last Friday, so have only been able to sew in small chunks since then, but I managed to finish up my yellow projects. These are Scrap Stash Plus blocks from a free pattern by Quilty Love. I cut all the blocks & clipped them together in January, so I pulled out the pile of yellow/gold & when I was finished with those, I made the reds.

I also sewed up two of Angela’s 2015 Sawtooth Stars this week. March’s has a yellow Air Castle in the center & April’s has a red Broken Sugar Bowl.

Lots of reasons, but sewing has been slow, so I’m still hanging out in yellow March with no red April in sight. But I will catch up eventually. I did get 6 Patchwork Stars, 4 rail fence blocks, & a Scraptastic Star made this week, so I only have two more yellow projects to go.

I also managed half of the bones for the Frightfully Fun! BOM. When I finish the other three I will have the March blocks done & can move on to April’s pumpkins & candy corn.

With a vacation taking up one week, I haven’t gotten much sewing done, so look for more yellow next week! I did get this RSC2024 quilt all the way done with binding before we left & I love it so much that I’m doing another one for RSC2025. It has a scrappy LV background & prints that read as solids for the hearts. It’s super cute & is the Patchwork Hearts pattern by Quilty Love.

I also got the cauldron done to go under the bird I showed previously. This is one of the March blocks for the Frightfully Fun! BOM & now I have to make 6 small bone blocks, then the April blocks will drop! The FPP takes a while, but I’m definitely getting better & faster, which was the goal, so yay!

These Moda Blockheads take more time to cut & sew than I anticipate each month, so my yellow is going slowly. But here is Rocky Mountain Puzzle & Devil’s Claw on the top row; Trail of Tears, Night Flight & Twice the Friendship on the bottom row.

I got my Strippy Slab Star made with small pieces from my crumb bag in the center & strips from the yellow strip bin for the points.

I sewed the other February blocks for the Frightful Fun! BOM. These are the FPP candy blocks & I got a start on March’s blocks by doing the bird that sits on the cauldron that I still need to make, plus the five bones. Those may fall into April since we will be gone for a week on vacation.

I had to finish up my blue blocks before beginning March’s yellow, so here are my five Moda blockheads. They are Lawyer’s Puzzle, Bow Tie Quartet, Puzzled, Ohio Star Variation, & T Block. I’m doing 5/month. The yellows are County Fair blocks by Amy Smart in the book, “Scrap School” by Lissa Alexander. I did them first, mostly because they are quick & I could get a start on yellow! (Update: a sharp-eyed reader saw my Ohio Star had a problem, so here’s a photo with the repaired star.)

This is the new Thursday group project. It’s a free pattern called Fireworks that’s going to be a table topper. My partners are making theirs in RW&B & I was excited to follow along, but then realized that was not smart as I’d made a square RW&B topper last year & what I really need is a spring one. I have a naked table now that Val Day is over. So I decided to make mine spring inspired & it can finish out this season (maybe), but definitely be ready for next year. So I dug in my stash for green, pink/coral, aqua, with gray background. I cut it all on my own time, then together, we got one of the four blocks made with a start on the other three.
