Royal Challenge 2016

She’s Got Books on her Mind hosted the Reading Road Trip Challenge 2015 and it was fun to play along with her so I decided to join her upcoming challenge which is to read books with a royal theme: books that center around anyone with a royal title, knights, castles, kingdoms, or heroic quests. I am signing up for Earl or Countess: 7-9 books.

Levels:
Knight: 1-3 books
Baron or Baroness: 4-6 books
Earl or Countess: 7-9 books
Duke or Duchess: 10-12 books
Prince or Princess: 13-15 books
King or Queen: 15+ books

Literary Loners Reading Challenge 2016

I was invited by the author of Whatever I Think Of! to join her new challenge and I am game! There are two options: characters or authors and I am choosing characters. She is not prescribing levels so I will see what the future holds and be more cognizant of identifying loners.

Option 1: character identified as a loner, outcast, recluse, wallflower, or introvert. This can be the main character (such as Bella from Twilight or Charlie from The Perks of Being a Wallflower) or a secondary one (such as Miss Havisham from Great Expectations or Boo Radley from To Kill a Mockingbird).

Retellings Reading Challenge 2016

Retellings Reading Challenge 2016

This challenge is hosted by Once Upon a Bookcase. I have actually read several retellings lately and as I searched my TBR shelves I found that I have many in my library, so I am up for cleaning out some books and playing along. I am choosing the Medium: 5-8 retellings level.

The Challenge:
Easy: 1-4 retellings
Medium: 5-8 retellings
Hard: 9-12 retellings

Which Books Count:
You can read retellings of any of the following:
Classics & Children’s Classics, Fairy Tales, Myths and Legends, Folk Tales and prequels/sequels – I.E. Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige is a sequel series to The Wizard of Oz, and would count.
