RSC2024-orange August week 2

August 17, 2024 by Sue 3 Comments

SOSCRAPPY

My orange scraps yielded four Split Nine Patches made of 2.5″ squares. I love the look of these & still haven’t decided how I’m going to lay out the quilt.

I finished the orange blocks for Sliding Scale & sewed all the blocks into rows. I need to cut & sew the grunge sashing to go between all the rows, but I’ve been enjoying looking at it on the design wall so haven’t been in a big hurry. And yes, my homemade design wall is too small, so painter’s tape is holding up the ends.

I got another RSC2022 project done this week! Shine is done & I’m very happy with it. Any quilt with the metallic ombre & an Irish Chain variation is a win!

I’m trying to finish up all the old projects that got set aside when I had my accident 2 years ago today. I decided to get the list & see my progress, which isn’t as bad as I thought. So I’m being more disciplined than I imagined, which is good news.

RSC2023 projects:

  • North Stars by Elizabeth Hartman (FINISHED)
  • Hope #2 (FINISHED)
  • blue jean for donation (FINISHED)
  • Palm Canyon (FINISHED)
  • RW&B String Bean blocks from Pat Sloan (FINISHED)
  • River Log Cabin by Amy Ellis (a bunch of blocks done)
  • Ombre Weave (FINISHED)

RSC2022 projects:

  • Tula Pink 100 Modern Quilt Blocks-Sliding Scale (blocks made, rows sewed, need sashing)
  • twinkling friendship block inspired by Deb A. (blue & red used in a donation quilt; others in box)
  • Shine blocks from the free pattern by Melissa Corry (FINISHED)
  • Sweet Kisses by Gigi’s Thimble (FINISHED)
  • Catching Rainbows by Bonnie Hunter (FINISHED)

Congrats on getting your beautiful Shine quilt completed, Sue! I’m loving your scrappy ORANGE squares for this month, too.

Shine is lovely. I can imagine the split nine patch blocks in a similar setting. Whatever you choose to do it is bound to be fabulous.

Very impressive how you have reduced your backlog.

Congrats on finishing Shine! It’s so pretty! Well done on blocks too, love your orange split-9. I have yet to make a few in orange. Love your Sliding Scale too, interesting design. Well done on all the other finishes! Happy and creative weekend!
