Today is the first day of fall and I’ve completed my Goodreads challenge goal. I usually pick 120 books/year for this challenge and watch during the year how I keep up. Goodreads says I am 34 books ahead of schedule by finishing this early!

2016 Prequel & Sequel Challenge wrap-up

I did this challenge last year and signed up for Amateur (25-50 points) but more than doubled the Veteran level, so this year I signed up for the Veteran level, hoping that wasn’t too ambitious. But it’s now August, I’m well past the Veteran threshold of 101+ points so I’m calling this challenge for 2016. I finished 3 series, which means that all books have been published, and got up to date on 6 other series, as well as farther along in many more. So success on series reads!

And here is the list: [Read more…] about 2016 Prequel & Sequel wrap-up

What’s In A Name? 2016 wrap-up

June 8, 2016 by Sue Leave a Comment

What's In A Name 2016 logoWhat’s In A Name? 2016

The ninth annual What’s In A Name challenge is once again hosted by The Worm Hole. I began the fun in 2009 so I couldn’t pass up the chance to play again. I read all the books early except an item of furniture, which I had a hard time finding on my TBR shelves. I was searching for another book when I found “The Piano Teacher” on the row behind some others, pulled it out and finished up this challenge in the first half of the year. Links to my reviews are found on the challenge website under each category.

The rules are simple-Read one book from each of the following categories:

A country: A Passage to India, E.M. Forster
An item of clothing: The Kashmir Shawl, Rosie Thomas
An item of furniture: The Piano Teacher, Janice Y.K. Lee
A profession: The Beekeeper’s Apprentice (Mary Russell #1), Laurie R. King
A month of the year: The Fifth of March: A Story of the Boston Massacre, Ann Rinaldi
A title with the word ‘tree’ in it: The Darling Dahlias and the Cucumber Tree (The Darling Dahlias #1), Susan Wittig Albert
