Tuacahn 2006

October 15, 2006 by Sue Leave a Comment

This year we had an adventure at Tuacahn.  We went down to see “South Pacific” and there were some wildfires going on in Southern Utah.  We had a little bit of rain and there was some smoke but we didn’t think it was going to be too bad.  But the fire was in a nearby canyon and the smoke increased steadily during the pre-show dinner and pre-show on the plaza and we were getting a little concerned when we started seeing ash fall on us.  The show started but the smoke was getting worse and worse, and finally during the first act they called off the show because it was getting too dangerous and the actors couldn’t see very well.  That’s the first time we’ve gotten a rain check there.

We had a busy rest of the summer and couldn’t go again until early September and Mark ended up not being able to go with us.  We were all sad about that, but they gave us a gift card to use next year for the price of his ticket.  We found out it’s very pleasant weather at the end of the run.  Note to self.  The show was great and we loved it!

2006 Spring Break

April 22, 2006 by Scott

We went camping in Green River, Utah for our spring break this year.  It was actually a very nice camp right on the Green River.  We had a relaxing couple of days, some good food, and a very interesting trip to a cold water geyser (pictures below).  If you are ever in the Green River area, the geyser is a must see.  The mineral deposits it has left (and that you can walk all through) are amazing. One the way back to Alpine, we stopped off at Arches National Park and hiked to Delicate Arch, in addition to driving through the park.  That was a first for Mark and Brian.  It was pretty hot that day, so we were glad to get back to the car and some nice air conditioning!

Just having fun….

These are all the deposits that are left by the geyser.  You can walk all over them.

2005 Las Vegas Bowl

December 21, 2005 by Scott

BYU playing in the Las Vegas bowl against California, and since it was so close, we decided to drive down and see the game.  Sue went with us, but didn't want to go to the game, so she chilled out in the hotel (just prior to Christmas is a GREAT time to go to Vegas–the hotel rooms were extra cheap.  We got rooms in the Excalibur for $30).

A few pictures from the game.  Unfortunately, BYU lost, but it was a close game, and we had a great time.
