Quilting

My Thanksgiving quilt is done!

June 26, 2012 by Sue 2 Comments

Any of you who read this blog know I’ve been working on this quilt for a long time, but tonight I got it completely done and ready to show off!!! Here it is:

This is my fourth completed quilt, machine-pieced and hand-quilted.  I’m on a roll.  Wink, wink!  For this quilt, I received the fabric for Christmas 2010,  got the pattern and cut the fabric for my Independence Day birthday 2011, started sewing for Thanksgiving 2011, got the top done for Valentine’s Day 2012, and did the hand-quilting and binding before my Independence Day birthday 2012.  I’m like the Tortoise, slow but sure.  The pattern is “Off the Grid” Sliced Nine Patch by Quilt Dad and I’m so HAPPY to have it done!  It was my hardest pattern yet and  turned out great with all those lovely fall colors and prints.  It will really make my living room railing festive come November.

I’ll get back to quilting a “Tall Tales” quilt and piecing a “Wild Things” top, so other stuff is in the pipeline.  Wa-hoo!

Hopping

Three days of the Beehive Shop Hop has resulted in the following:

My camera and the lighting is showing these as a somewhat black background for the frogs and lizards, but it’s actually a warm chocolate brown with greens, teals, and oranges for the other colors.  I’m going to be using this pattern:

Chain Reaction pattern for sale

It’s going to be an awesome boy quilt!  Someday……..

Sliced Nine-Patch

February 13, 2012 by Sue 1 Comment

Saturday I finished the top for my Thanksgiving quilt. For those of you keeping track, I received the fabric for Christmas 2010, got the pattern and cut the fabric for my Independence Day birthday 2011, and got the top done for Valentine’s Day 2012. Yeah, I’m a slow worker.  I’d been working away at it a little at a time, but after I went to a quilt class last week and learned some cool stuff, I just went crazy and worked at it non-stop. So Saturday I finished it up and started the hand quilting that evening.

It’s by far the most complicated pattern I’ve done, but it’s also the best-looking one, so it just goes to show that I’m learning something. Yay! It’s a Sliced Nine-Patch called Off-the-Grid by John at Quilt Dad. And here it is!

A Good Start

November 10, 2011 by Sue Leave a Comment

Finally started sewing my Thanksgiving quilt today.  Yeah, it was only two 9-patch blocks, and no, it won’t be done for this year,  but I got started.  I cut out the blocks a long time ago so it made me happy to finally start sewing!
